Raccoon Tales

Raccoon Tales takes readers on a year-long journey into the real-life adventures of five orphaned baby raccoons. What will happen to Shadow, Meeko, RC, Lucy, and Chatter? Author Joy DeKok shares the story of these little “wash-bears” with tenderness and energy. Written in easy-to-read verse, children and adults will enjoy reading this book. Readers will leave the story glad they came, knowing more about raccoons, and what a wild animal rescue and release looks like. Illustrator Leslie Helen Colwin’s delightful illustrations bring the story to life.

A Few Reviews. . .

What a heartwarming story! This touching story is such a delight and provides the perfect platform for discussions with kids about God’s love and provision. I
was so wrapped up in the story, by the end I wanted to find some masked sweeties of my own! (Fortunately, the urge passed.) The artwork was perfect – just
perfect. Can’t wait to have grandkids to share this with! Another winner by Joy DeKok!

This is an absolutely wonderful faith-based children’s book that one day, I look forward to sharing with my grandchildren. The book is so very well written.
Organized into four short stories, the nicely woven combination of facts, rhymes and scripture make it a enjoyable experience for the reader – whether it be an
adult or a child. The illustrations are beyond beautiful! I believe any parent would agree that this fun, little book would be a perfect addition to their
storytime library!

I bought this book for my 4 year old, very inquisitive son. When I received it in the mail, I started thumbing through it, intending on reading it later to
him. I found myself immersed in the story and had to finish reading it right then. I love the book and the pictures are wonderful. I especially liked how the
author highlighted God’s care of his creation and bridged that to his care for his children. My son really enjoyed it and had a lot of questions about the
raccoons as we went along. It is a long book, for a picture book, but it is divided into sections. If we are short on time we just read one or two sections,
with the promise to read more the next day. This is now one of his favorite books and he knows all the raccoons by name.
